Bowen Techniques
The Bowen technique is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy. For more than 40 years it has been used successfully to treat thousands of people suffering from a variety of illnesses. This unique system, created by Tom Bowen in Australia, has amazed therapists of all disciplines. The gentle moves on soft tissue stimulate physiological changes and energy flow, empowering the body’s own resources to heal, balance and “reprogram” how it holds itself.
A Bowen move is itself a study in delicacy. The work consists of a series of precise moves on specific points of the body. These light moves can be done through clothing. There are frequent and important pauses between each series of moves giving the body time to benefit from each manipulation.
Bowen is safe to use on anyone from the newborn to the elderly as there are no vigorous manipulations employed in the treatment. Yet despite the gentleness of its application, Bowen achieves profound, substantial and lasting relief from a wide spectrum of conditions.
Among the benefits it achieves in the process are the reduction of physical, emotional and mental stress – improvement in joint mobility, circulation of lymphatic and venous fluids, assimilation of nutrients and the elimination of toxins. Bowen introduces a state of ease and well-being making it a pleasant treatment option for any of the following conditions: musculoskeletal pain, respiratory problems, digestive disorders, gynaecological problems, chronic fatigue syndrome, balance problems, tinnitus, bed wetting in children, prosthetic problems, hemorrhoids, earaches and ear infections.
